Free Data Risk Calculator

Find out what your data is worth at risk.

Your "crown-jewel" data — customer records, health files, card numbers, credentials — carries a real dollar liability the day it leaks. Answer four quick questions and see your estimated data-at-risk exposure instantly. Every dollar is records × a published breach-cost figure you can verify — no black-box score, no email required to see the number.

Why these numbers

Real research, not a fear number.

Plenty of vendors flash a scary "risk score" with no math behind it. We do the opposite — every figure is a record count multiplied by a published, cited per-record breach cost. Same model our Argos Shield platform runs.

How it works

Records × published cost.

Liability = the number of sensitive records you hold, times a per-record breach cost from IBM's Cost of a Data Breach and the Verizon DBIR. PHI $408/record, PCI $295, PII $180, credentials $150 — you see each line of the math.

Why trust it

The same numbers we bill on.

These aren't marketing figures. They're the exact per-record values inside Argos Shield, the data-security platform we run for clients. The free calculator estimates; the paid platform measures the real thing on your systems.

What's next

We find where it really lives.

A real Data Risk Assessment scans where your sensitive data actually sits — endpoints (Windows and Mac), Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace — and hands you the map. That's the difference between an estimate and the truth.

FAQ

Common questions.

Where do the dollar values come from?

Published breach-cost research: IBM's Cost of a Data Breach 2024 (healthcare, financial, and cross-industry per-record costs) and the Verizon DBIR 2024 for credentials. We use the same per-record values as our Argos Shield platform, and we show every one to you — no hidden multipliers.

How accurate is the estimate?

It's a planning estimate, deliberately transparent. The math is exact (records × rate); the uncertainty is in your record counts, which is why we show a low–expected–high range and let you adjust every number. A real assessment replaces the estimate with a measured count from your actual environment.

Does this scan my systems?

No — this calculator runs entirely in your browser and sends us nothing until you choose to request an assessment. Nothing you type here touches our servers otherwise. The full Data Risk Assessment is what actually scans your endpoints and cloud, with your permission.

Do you cover Macs?

Yes. Our assessment agent runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace — so we can quantify data on the machines a lot of tools quietly skip. Book an assessment and we'll show you what's really out there.
